Nice Landscape

Fresh as the day it was painted, this wonderful Colin McCahon 1966 work on paper, North Otago II, is to be offered in the November 27th Important New Zealand Paintings catalogue. In a private collection since it was originally purchased in 1967, it is a wonderful contribution to what is shaping as our strongest offering yet. Limited final entries are invited for another 10 days.

Inspirational - a special art auction

A+O is auctioning a collection of 28 original artworks commissioned by Robert Harris Coffee Roasters. All the proceeds of the auction will go to the Robert Harris Inspiration Scholarship, which is being set up to support aspiring new artists. The auction is on Saturday 1st November and the artworks will be on view on at the auction rooms.

Ten New Zealand artists were commissioned by to transform the humble paper napkin into pieces of art. Featured artists include: Martin Popplewell, Dean Tercel, Kirsty Gorman, Gavin Hurley, Esther Leigh, Jonathan Baxter, Toni McKinnon, Hayley King, Mary Louise Browne and Josh Paki

The works are all of uniform format as they were specifically commissioned to be exhibited in Adshel bus shelters. The original exhibition took place in bus shelters in Downtown Auckland, Queen Street and Britomart then subsequently travelled the length of the country, finally exhibiting in Wellington.

The idea of the original commission to the artists relates to Robert Harris' new advertising campaign in which the paper napkin is presented as a tool for capturing peoples' inspirations such as drawings and sketches as they enjoy a cup of coffee. Getting the artists to use the napkin in artworks was a continuation of the idea where the inspirational journey continued outdoors. Prices are expected to range from $300 - $2000. Come and have a look.

Invivo, our wine providers get well deserved accolades

Invivo who are partnering with A+O as our wine providers have had some great things happening for them. They received a bronze medal at the International Wine Challenge (NZ’s largest wine competition with around 2270 entries). A great accolade considering they had to submit the wine only four days after it had been bottled in Blenheim!!! Also well known NZ wine writer Joelle Thomson week selected Invivo to be her wine of the week on Mindfood.com. See the link below…
